As we begin 2024, The Delaware County Planning Board is excited to commence the development of a Comprehensive & Strategic Action Plan.  This plan will serve as a guide to promoting the success, safety, and general welfare of Delaware County, providing a basis to guide the development of both the natural and built environment while working to sustain and improve the quality of life for residents. The goals and objectives outlined in the plan will influence decisions and actions relating to the immediate and long-range development, enhancement, and growth of the Delaware County.  The plan will serve as a guide while addressing key issues facing the County not only today, but also when debating new opportunities and challenges in the future.

This planning effort will help unify common goals for Delaware County and its municipalities, while providing a resource tool for the Board of Supervisors in developing effective strategies and implementation measures to reach these goals. Although the comprehensive plan cannot anticipate every issue that may arise over the next twenty years, it can serve as a guide for the development of effective policy decisions.

Comprehensive plans developed in a collaborative process serve as the building blocks of sustainable communities that support viable economic stability while providing for a high quality of life.  Local municipalities play a key role by developing and implementing comprehensive plans that reflect their own goals.  There will be opportunities for businesses

The County Comprehensive Plan provides an opportunity to coordinate these efforts and create a shared community vision. The Comprehensive Plan is intended to be a policy document used as a guide for the growth and development of Delaware County and is important to remain competitive for grant funding opportunities.

This project is possible through grant funding awarded to the County by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) in addition to commitments of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds as designated by Delaware County.
