The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services has developed a Damage Self Report tool for individuals to report damages from the August 9th storms without having to call our local Emergency Services Office. You can still call and leave a message, but for those of you that would like to complete the report online at your own convenience the QR code below will take you directly to the tool.
The information you need to have available includes:
- Date the damage occurred
- Physical address of the damaged property
- Whether or not it is a primary residence
- Whether you rent or own the property
- Whether the damage is to a residence or a business
- Whether you lost access to personal, private or public transportation as a result of the damage
- Whether it impacted your employment
- Whether the property is in a federally recognized Tribal Nation
- What caused the most damage (wind, water, etc.)
- Insurance information
o Homeowners or Renters insurance
o Flood insurance - Photographs of damages
- Contact information
o Name
o Phone number
o Email
If you are unable to use the attached QR Code or would like assistance in filling in the survey you can visit the Planning Department and Sheriff Office booths in the Commercial Tent at the Delaware County Fair. We will have people there to assist you or you can call the planning office at (607) 832-5444 and our staff will walk you through the survey.
Later this week State representatives will come to Delaware County to evaluate damages. We will notify you of the date, times and location so that you can speak to them about your damages and possible programs or assistance if any become available.
