Police reform took center stage in our national discourse following the death of George
Floyd and the subsequent homicide arrest of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
This event catalyzed a national outcry for reform and racial justice and spurred action at
both the federal and state levels.


On June 12, 2020, Governor A. Cuomo issued an Executive Order directing
municipalities that employ police officers to actively engage stakeholders in the local
community and develop locally approved plans for the strategies, policies, and
procedures of local police agencies.
