Steve Finch was hired as 911
Coordinator on February 23, 2004.
Steve serves as the administrator
of the County 911 systems which includes E911 addressing and mapping,
and oversight of the County public safety radio systems.
Steve has served Delaware County
for over 25 years as a volunteer, a firefighter, a Fire Chief, Chairman
of the Fire Advisory Board and the 911 Committee. He has worked for
Delaware County as 911 Coordinator for over four years and has played an
integral role in the development of 911 and the Emergency Management
Office as a whole. He goes out of his way to work with law, fire and
emergencies within the County. A large part of his work takes place at
home during the evenings, weekends and holidays, whenever he is needed.
He is constantly offering phone support to all of the agencies he
serves.
Steve’s attendance to work is
superb and he rarely takes a day off. His knowledge of the 911 system
is excellent. He was one of the visionaries of the system, helping to
build it from the ground up. He is a self motivator and requires
minimal to no guidance at his job. He is constantly looking for ways to
improve our 911 system and our ability to provide public safety services
to the citizens of Delaware County. He readily adapts and promotes
change as we work in a rapidly changing environment.
Steve is truly a leader. Her not
only remains motivated but motivates everyone he works with. He
continues to teach and train office staff on all new technologies that
we need to be aware of. He is not only a leader in the Emergency
Management Office but in the field as well. Many departments routinely
inquire about Steve’s help, advice, etc.
What Steve likes most about the job
is the diverse nature of the work. He enjoys being involved in helping
people and working with the emergency responders in all aspects of
public safety.
Steve has two wonderful children,
Stefanie (14) and Michael (10), and a lovely girlfriend, Ann Hoffman.
His hobbies include gardening, skiing, golf, and watching or listening
to the New York Mets.
Steve is truly a leader, educator,
and motivator who is more than deserving of Employee of the Month
recognition
