A drug court is a voluntary sentencing process that allows non-violent, substance-abusing offenders to choose treatment and supervision over incarceration. Participants in treatment court must make regular appearances in court, meet regularly with probation officers and substance-abuse counselors attend self-help group meetings, fulfill job and educational requirements, and abstain from using alcohol and other drugs.
